Who’s Ready for Lunch?

Food trucks have been making headlines lately, to the joy of foodies everywhere. Well, not everywhere. As delicious as the trucks’ offerings are, most of them are found in Toronto, not Mississauga, so we’re missing out on some cool and interesting food options.

But not today. Today at 1 Robert Speck Parkway (close to Burhamthorpe and Hurontario), I found not one but two food trucks: Caplansky’s Delicatessen and Rome’n Chariot. Rather than choosing between them (which is silly), I ordered from both and shared the spoils with the MississaugaLife staff.

The food from both trucks was very good and tasty (of course), but the knockout punch came when I had dessert: maple beef bacon donuts from Caplansky’s. Wow. They’re Timbits with bacon in the middle, served with maple syrup and sprinkled with powdered sugar. It’s a heart-attack food bullet, sure, but so good.

Folks, if you’re feeling culinarily adventurous, keep an eye out for food trucks. Go to torontofoodtrucks.ca to find out where they’ll be next!

  1. Interesting read. As a Torontoist, I'm blessed with having these wheeled kitchens around my office, but I've yet to actually check one out. I'm curious though: is there any colour available from those trucks, or do they suffer from the same lack of nutritional quality as the food trucks that prowl the University of Toronto and City Hall? At a first glance it seems to be the usual pale, bland mix of deep fried yellows and white Styrofoam. Yes, you make mention of eggplant in one of the sliders, but what about some healthier options?
